And Yet MORE 100 Words

By Michael Seese

First things first...

A few posts back, I shared with you a poignant short story, "The Drive To Heaven." And it won! Yaaaaaaaay!!!!

And Saturday, another 100 words. This time, we had to incorporate:

blitz
tube
blackout
finest
hour

Janet chose these words because she enjoyed the first two books in Susan Elia Macneal's series, one of which is Mr. Churchill's Secretary

Without further ado, here is "The Finest Life."

April didn’t want to leave. This had been a great life. The finest one yet.

“I wish I understood this,” Jeff said.

She wanted to explain. But people from her world had trouble comprehending space-time travel.

“I have to go,” she said. “Our enemies have started an all-out blitz. It’s up to me. I’m the only one who can save my people from extinction.”

A portal opened.

“I thought you said we had an hour.”

“They’re unpredictable. I love you.”

“Please come back.”

“I’ll try.”

She entered. Just before the blackout, April heard Jeff’s voice.

“She’s in. Destroy the tube.”

What do you think? Can I repeat?
