WhatsApp SPAM

By Michael Seese

They say that variety is the spice of life. And I was growing wearing of the FedEx / UPS SPAMs. Then along comes this one to brighten my day.

So, junior infosec pros, what can we see right away about this little bugger?

How about:

1.The subject seems to think I have five more messages than the body does.
2. The sender is a Chinese cosmetics firm. (LAME, PEOPLE! You need to at least make the sender look believable.)
3. Hovering over the "Play" button reveals that I would venture to

Ah, yes. Click on SPAM and see the world. First China, then Germany. (And is it just me, or does anyone else's mind rearrange the stuff between http and .de into "anti christ.")

Let's be safe out there.

FedEx???? SPAM

By Michael Seese

I know what you're thinking: isn't this the same SPAM he blogged about on Sunday? Pretty much. (Though the strap-ons are missing.) But, take a look at the "From:" line.

USPS...FedEx...USPS...FedEx. I guess the Estonians don't know much about parcel delivery in the U.S.

But wait, there's more!

Later in the day, I received this:

FYI, I received another, from "Next Day Air Saver," early the following morning. And two more the next day. And one today. So I finally decided to write the folks whose email list was used for this, and asked them to look into it.

You know what they (spammers) say: If at first you don't succeed, try try try try try try try try again. Click to tweet.

FedEx SPAM

By Michael Seese

I know... you've seen one SPAM, you've seen them all. But something about this one struck me as REALLY funny. Remember my mantra: hover over the links to see where they want to take you. If you look at the bottom of the screen, you can see where the purple "Print Shipment Label" goes.

Since you probably can't read it, it says, "http://bitches-feet.strapon-tube.net/wp-content/plugins/wp_api/get.php?d_info=891_782254240."

Yes, nothing says FedEx like "bitches" and "strap-on." Click to tweet.

PS: I swear, one of these days we'll watch the season finale of "Castle."
